It somehow crossed my mind, how on such a appetizing oily diet, a girl manages to be so slim and fit? How much of this golden liquid is good enough but not too much?How much of olive oil is healthy and safe to eat daily?I got curious, and soon enough found the answer in a book, Smart Food diet from scientists and doctors of European Institute for Oncology…

Here are my findings:

Most research will advise daily consumption of 4 table spoons per day (minimum 20-35 grams) which approximately equals to two portions of salad dressing per person.

However,  in the Mediterranean culture, especially Italy as a top producer of high quality extra virgin olive oil, the daily average consumption of oil is higher as it is the most common oil used in the kitchen.

Moreover, Italians believe that this contributes to their nations’ longevity!

It turns out that the good limit for healthy olive oil consumption lies between a well-balanced nutricious diet and caloric intake.

In terms of caloric itake the bread might be seriously more of the concern!
