Our olive grove is located in the eastern part of Sicily, on the slopes of Volcano Etna and 12,5 miles from the Ionian sea.
The name Martum is an invention that derives from Mars (Marte in Italian, and Martis in Latin). Planet Mars is the most common association that people have walking around Etna craters. We in Sicily love and admire our Mount Etna. It is a pride to live nearby.
Etna is beautiful and powerful, and it enriches the Sicilian soils with the unique set of minerals. Our olive grove benefits from this blessing as well.

Martum Cultivar

Cultivar is a word for an olive tree variety. Like grapes, olive trees can be of different varieties. The taste of artisanal olive oil depends on cultivar as the good wine depends on the certain type of grapes.

Variety Nocellare dell’Etna
Nocellare dell’Etna is famous for the high quality extra virgin olive oil of naturally low acidity as well as for its mildly intense flavor – pleasantly bitter and spicy.
Variety Moresca
We use Moresca olives for table olives at times, and the olive that is created with it is best for cooking – even frying and baking – due to its taste with sweetish scent.
